
Health Benefits of Eating Squid Ink
Research has shown that squid ink is effective against pathogens like viruses. It also has antibiotic effects against some infectious bacteria. Ingredients (for gravy)
- 1 tsp Bisto Original Gravy Powder
- 1 tsp Squid ink
- 1 Vegetable Stock Cube
Mix the bisto with a spoonful of cold water into a paste, add oxo and squid ink. Add 150ml of water or vegetable water from cooked vegetables if available. Bring to boil and simmer until thick.
Below we have added Colcannon, this also works well with all potato dishes and a variety of fish.
Colcannon Ingredients

4 large Maris Piper potatoes

6 tbsp unsalted butter, or olive oil 60ml

3 spring onions
- 1 raw egg (optional before mashing)

1 cup milk

Freshly ground black pepper and salt, to taste
Instructions
- Peel and chop potatoes into cubes and add to a pan of water. Use scissors to snip and add spring greens.
- Bring to boil and simmer for 15 minutes approx. until cooked.
- Add milk and butter and mash, season and sprinkle with spring onions
- Ad any grilled or griddled fish such as Salmon, sea bass or smoked basa.
